Cricut DS Software
Cricut DS Software is a product created by Provo craft to work in conjunction with Cricut electronic die cutting machines.
The cricut ds software can be downloaded from the Provo Crafts website. This is a free trial download. Whether you decide to purchase the software or not it is worth the time for the free download and the free trial.
You can use the free download of the software to preview every cricut cartridge every made. This is comes in very handy if you want see what a cartridge has to offer before you buy it.
If you want to use Sure Cuts A Lot software you may need to update the version of firmware on your Cricut machine. This sounds more technical than what it is. This procedure requires you to have the proper version of the Cricut Design Studio software. For this procedure the free trial version is enough.
As for owning the Cricut Design Studio software. If you are going to use cricut cartridges alone I would say the design studio is a must. It truly extends the ability of your cricut machine. It allows you to view your design, modify and resize your design on screen prior to cutting it. This software also is the only method besides using sure cuts a lot software to weld your text and images together. Without the software you will only be able to cut out single images on your machine. If you want images to be welded you must own a piece of software.
The latest version of the software allows you to modify the images by adding and removing different cut lines. This is a little different than the original version because now you can actually modify images by only cutting a portion of them.
The cricut design studio software does have a definite learning curve attached. I have found a resource by, Brandi Moore, that has proven to be a big time saver and has eliminated the headaches of learning the software.
Cricut Design Studio can improve your ability to create with your cricut. If you want to go beyond simple cuts I would definitely download it and take this software for a test drive.
