Sweet Dreams Little Sheep by Guest Designer Mary

I have a guest designer.  I am fortunate to have Mary Perterson working with a set of my SVG files.  Mary is working with the Animal Barnyard collection.  Mary used the sheep from the collection to make her first of hopefully many projects.

Mary tells me, “The star and moon paper, and the plaid paper is from Paper Studios.  I used Recollections pink to create the flower border (a file I created) and Recollections yellow cardstock.

For the sheep, I did a print and cut for the face, using MTC and my Cougar.  I cut out all the pieces in three different sizes.  I wrapped the single body piece with Red Heart Buttercup white yarn to give the sheep some “wool”.  I also used the yarn on the tail and the head.”

I can’t wait so see more from Mary.

Hang in There Kitty

Sing with me, “The weather outside is frightful, but my craft rooms so delightful.”  Thank goodness this isn’t a video post nobody would want to hear me singing all day.  Well singing aside I found some inspiration to make  cards for a  a couple of people on my list that need a few prayers and a little pick me up.  I put this card together for a pick me up card and a get well soon card.  I used files from the Bird Cage Collection, and the Kitty in a Pumpkin Set.  The inspiration for, the card came from a sketch from a new challenge blog called Love to Create.
Get well card with kitty svg, heart svg, border svgThe kitty got i-rocked with the i-rock tool.  I used tiny little pink rhinestones for his ears and eyes.  While I was moving the tiny rhinestones around I started to wish I had the i-rock lighted tweezers.  They were not available when I order my tool.  They would have saved me a lot of frustration.  I inked the scalloped circle and the heart.  The quote, “Hang In There,” was printed using the second breakfast font.  The upper hearts are white brads.  I also added some extra bling on the heart to.  The black background was embossed with the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder D’Vine, and inked in black. I finished it off with a red ribbon from my stash.

These are the two cutting files I used from the Adams Acres Store.  These files come in svg, pdf, mtc, scut and png formats.

Old Farmers

My dad has a birthday this week so I it was time to come up with another card.  You know those sayings “Old ____ never group up, they just keep ________.”  Well I had that thought running through my head all day.   My Dad has been on a farm or farming all his life so I was trying to put the thought and the practice together.  I grabbed my sticker and rub on stash and fumbled through.  I knew I had some farm related stuff in there somewhere.  I came up with some farm related Creative Memories stickers and this newer, “On the Farm,” rub on.  So this is what I came up with.

The saying finally came together when the stickers went on.  The front says, “Old Farmers don’t Grow Up.”  The inside of the card, which I didn’t take a picture of, says, “They just keep playing in the dirt.”  So there you have it my original saying perfect for my dad.

I put the saying in a pdf for free download in case you have a farmer in your life that fits this quote.

Rock On Birthday Card

Sometimes, in my case most of the time, your day doesn’t go quite like you planned.  For instance LB (little boy) stayed home from school.  He has the cough, the aches, the pains and just feels like crud.  That meant a day of rocking in the chair.  While I’m happy to do it, it does change my day.  While rocking away the morning we heard a pretty big thud upstairs.  Oh, here we go.  The wind is blowing like crazy today so I wondered what the damage was.  Unfortunately is was death by Windex.  A bird did a kamikaze straight into my living room window.  Needless to say he left some of himself on the window and the rest of himself on the deck.  Yuck.  So cleaning that was diversion number 2 for the day.

After the diversions I still had to come up for a birthday card for my daughter’s friend.  My day had be less than inspirational so I am glad that I have sites like Mojo Monday that have card sketches and stacks of DCWV that make your projects work when you don’t have a truly creative moment.

Today’s card is from Mojo Monday Card Challenge 225.  Paper by DCWV Rock star Card stack, bling and brads, and stamp from Walmart.  The Rock Star Stack is flocked and had glitter and shiny paper.  It is a great stack to work on teen projects.

Make a Wish

I hope everyone had a good time going through the blog from the “Based on a Book Blog Hop.”  The next blog hop will be the “Word Wide Marriage Hop,” on February 12th.  My darling niece turned 15 this past weekend so the card I have for you today did double duty.  For one it is my submission to Mojo Monday Card Challenge 223 and it was sent with love to wish my niece an amazing 15th year.

Made with file from the Bird Cage Collection

So here is the recipe

  • Cutting Files from “The Bird Cage Collection”

Price: $2.50
  • Patterned paper from DCWV Be Mine Stack

I edged the paper with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

The stamp was a $.99 stamped picked up from Walmart.

You’re Sweet

First week of January 2012 is nearly in the books.  I think I have recoverd from the holidays.  The tree is down and the house has been completely de-Chirstmased.  Now it’s time to get out he pink, red and white for the Valentine’s season.  This is my first Valentine card.  I put it together with a card sketch from Mojo Monday.

I also used a small daisy cut from my new “Bird Cage” set.  I will have more examples of these cuts but they are fantastic if I do say so myself. The cuts are available in SVG, PDF, MTC and SCUT

Cornucopia for Fall and Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is so close.  I can almost smell the turkey, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie.  For this holiday I created a Cornucopia.  This has lots of little cuts but the assembly goes together very quickly.  I so enjoyed working on this project.  I had an old 8X10 frame in mind when I created this cornucopia file

After I cut all the elements I embellished them with chalk, glitter and Stickles and added a vellum title from a Creative Memories collection.  I wish the picture did the finished product justices.  Paper crafter not a photographer.

The cutting files contain all the vegetables, greenery and cornucopia.  This file is in SVG, PDF, SCUT and MTC formats.
As I was designing this piece I discovered that I could use it well beyond the fall season.  It has so many elements that could be used for gardening themes, cookbook projects.  I even discovered that the foliage can be used to create some pretty neat Christmas wreaths and trees but that is for another post.  The Cornucopia files can be purchased from the Adams Acres Store.  I hope you enjoy this file as much as I enjoyed making and playing with it.
