Sure Cuts a Lot How To

Video Tutorial: Cutting Specific Layered Pieces

If you have the latest version of Sure Cuts a Lot you might have noticed that when importing some SVG files they are all in one piece.  You can fix that by un-grouping the image and moving the pieces which can be tricky if there are a lot of them or you can use the improved layering feature.  In the video I describe how to work with the different pieces of a layered object without moving the pieces around.

Learn How to Use the Union Function in Scal2

I provided my viewers with an interlocking heart scut2 file.  I created it with the new union function in SCAL2.  Below is a little video I put together so you can start using the union function for your own creations.  I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Convert SVG into SCAL and Break Images Apart

Sure Cuts a Lot 2 Trace Image Tutorial

We all want to have custom images to cut.  That is the biggest bonus of Sure Cuts a Lot software.  If you are working with simple clean lined images you can now trace those images in Sure Cuts a Lot 2 instead of using a third party software like inkscape.  I created a quick tutorial to show you how easy it is to create a custom image with the trace tool.  I also show you how you can manipulate that images by breaking it apart and only cutting the parts that you want.  There are additional sure cuts a lot tutorials here.

How to Use SCAL Lib It Up

The creators of Sure Cuts a Lot have a companion piece called Lib It Up.  Scal Lib it up is a free download.  Lib it up creates little library files of all your svg or .scut files.  It organizes them and makes them easily accessible via the shapes window in Sure Cuts a Lot.

I have started to incorporate .lcut files in my svg mult cut downloads.  You put the lcut files in the library folder where you installed sure cuts a lot.  Believe me once you get into the habit of using the libraries you will never want to guess about which svg to use again.  I also love the fact that it can theme my svgs so that when I am creating I can quickly see the images of the svgs I have.

Keeping Proportions in Sure Cuts a Lot Part 1

Sure cuts a lot is awesome but sometimes it is a task to keep all of your multi cut svg files imported in the proper proportion.  On some of my SVG files like the bride and groom and the school house cuts I have add a little star to help you proportion your images.  Below is a video that will explain how to use the star to correctly size your images.  I also have a second method for people who regularly use inkscape.  I will get that video up as well.
