Beach Scene Layout
During my mini spring break I worked on some scrapbooking pages from last summer. I used a few vellum phrases that I had in my stash.
To attach my vellum I cut a piece of card stock to back the phrase. Next I cut the vellum phrase large enough to go around the card stock and secure it. This way you never see the tape or adhesive lines.
The beach scene was cut using SCAL and the Cricut. I cut the scene out of white cardstock and used bic markers to color in the scene to match the paper. I use the bic pens because they are the closest thing I can find, on a budget, to the Awesome Copic Markers. To top off the Beach scene I covered in Glossy Accents to give the scene a glassy effect.

Update one Blade Depth, Speed and Pressure
Jeni left this comment yesterday that I thought deserved it’s own post. The site Jeni references has a more in depth cutting chart.

Charity,
There is another, more complete guide. If you go to Above Rubie’s Studio, she has a guide for each type/brand of paper as well as intricate and simple cuts. As she says, “There are over 450 cuts done on all different paper brands, fabrics and all the cutting materials I could pack in!” It is many pages long and she still updates it every now and then… It is free.
Here is the link: http://www.aboverubiesstudio.com/free-goodies/cricut-cutting-guide/drumroll-the-cricut-cutting-guide-is-ready/425/
The only catch is… You have to sign up for her newsletters.
Enjoy!

Cricut Blade Depth, Pressure and Speed Settings
I had an awesome weekend with my friend. I took the kids out to her place for the spring break weekend. They are about the same ages so they keep themselves pretty busy while we retreat to her huge crafting room. Once a year we like to get together for a girls retreat scrapbook and more importantly catch up on each others lives. She recently picked up a Cricut Expression. She works with the cartridges and I work with SCAL so we can share.
This was the her biggest question of the weekend. What are the best settings for the pressure, speed and blade depth? Fortunately for her I came across a fellow blogger that put together a handy chart that will help you get started. It is still a bit of a touch and feel science but this chart is definitely a great starting point and well worth the download.
You can find the chart at Obessed with Scapbooking.
Developing and Online Scrapbooking and Card Making Crop Are You Interested
Last year I attened a “Crop for the Cure” benefit. It was awesome. I believe the tiny town sponoring the crop raised about $4000 for cancer research.
That got me thinking about having an online scrap here at adamsacres.com. This will be my first try at hosting one of these crops so I thought before I get too far into the planning process I would get the opinions of my awesome visitors.
Here are my thoughts.
1. Crop would be a free will donation. All proceeds would be going to fund cancer research. You could donate using a paypal button.
2. Prizes would be awarded throughout the day.
3. Card and Scrapbooking challenges will be supplied. Participating members could show off their designs in the Adams Acres forum or Flickr.
4. Games
5. Live classes or classes done on video.
I am planning on a Saturday in May.
If you are interested in helping with the crop, have an online class you would like to teach, want to donate prizes, have card or scrapbooking challenges for the group please let me know.
I want this to be a online community event where we can have a ton of fun and raise a few dollars for cancer research.

Top Picks for Easter
Easter is one of my favorite times of the year for crafting, scrapbooking and card making. Old Man winter has let go of us and everything is new again. Grass is green and the weather is starting to warm up. The pictures from Easter egg hunts are crisp and exciting. Here are a few of the items that may help you get started with your Easter projects.
Multi Page Easter Basket Book
We had our first spring weekend here. It was much appreciated. Easter is early this year so I am getting a jump on our Holiday planning. Below is an Easter basket book. When you put all the pages together your basket is filled with Easter eggs. I am going to use these books for our savenger hunts. Each page is going to contain a clue.
To put my book together I stapled it at the side and covered it with a ribbon. I am positive you can get really creative with this file.
One note. This book is about 5 by 4.5 in the cut files. If you want to make a bigger book for a photo album you can easily just resize each cut.
