Get Well Soon Giraffe for Sure Cuts a Lot

get well soon

get well soon

Our friend was feeling under the weather for a quite a while.  We did a little reconnaissance and found out that sheliked popcorn and giraffes.  This little fellow was created using sure cuts a lot.  The scut and the SVG file is available below.  The letters were created with a Close to My Hear stamp set, doodletype.  The cloud and the rain were accented with Glossy Accents.  The giraffe was given a coating of Doodlebug Design Sugar Coating.

I added an eyelet to each side of the page.  I added fiber through the eyelet to tie the card shut.  The card has been made big enough so that a package of microwave popcorn fits snuggly inside.

We added “Hope you pop back soon,” in the card.

Convert SVG into SCAL and Break Images Apart

Several members have asked me how to cut the Chili SVG file.  I put together a video that shows you how to layout the svg, export it into a bit map so that you can use the trace feature in SCAL II.  This is a longer video.  I hope it answers questions that you have about working with SVG, bitmap and the trace image feature in SCAL II.

Sure Cuts a Lot Wedding Card

SCAL Wedding card coverMy wonderful nephew and his new bride got married this weekend. It is a wonderful story. They started dating when they were freshmen in High School. Broke up for just a short time in college.  Got back together, graduated college and yesterday they became husband and wife.  Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all find our true love as freshmen in high school. I created this card just for them.  This is a pop up card but super simple to make.  The card was made in fall colors to match the wedding.Scal wedding card inside

This card has lots of elements.  The bride and groom were cut in SCAL II.  I cut them from a set of SVG images Denise has on her blog.  I am including this particular bride and groom image in the SCUT file.  I glittered the Bride and Groom with one of my favorites Doodlebug Sugar Coating Glitter.  The Glitter is super fine.  I use a clear glue stick to adhere the glitter.  If you want a heavier coat I use spray adhesive.

The heart has some dimension to it.  You will notice the SCUT file has a page with several hearts.  I wanted the hear to be thicker so I cut several hearts and pasted them together.  The top heart layer is a patterned paper. I also used Doodlebug Sugar coating on this card.  I topped the heart with a button that I added a little floss to.

The inside of the card pops up.  This is so easy.  fold the card in half then cut slits in the card.  When you open the card open up the slits and fold them in the opposite direction so that when you open your card you have a little bench.  Glue your items so the bench.  I will try to get a video up for this portion.

I have included links to a few of the items below. If you continue to scroll you will find a link to the scut file.  Become a free member to access the scut file.

Chili Pepper SVG Birthday Card

UPDATE: To everyone who has tried to download this – - apologies. I really don’t know what happened. I turned the file into a zip so you will need to unzip it once you get it on your computer. I tired this in google chrome and internet explorer so I hope it works for you.chilli pepper cardMy new facebook friend needed some ideas for her teenage son’s Mexican Birthday. Halloween SCUT files

grandmas halloweenbasket logToday I took my 2 oldest to the nursing home. They are instantly bored when there is a day off from school so what could be better than helping great grandma and her friend build a Halloween basket. My grandmother is 91 and her friend is near that age. She keeps the staff at the nursing home hopping with ideas. Today I brought in several images cut from the cricut. They were tickled to use the xyron to turn the images into stickers. This is a great tool for me and them.  No glue needed, even the little parts get sticky.  It makes placing pieces easier then using a glue pen or a adhesive roller.  They got the biggest buzz about that machine putting the glue on. The kids hot glued the images to skewers and added the candy. The ladies did the arranging.

I wasn’t sure how much they could do so we played it by ear. The next time I go we will make multiple baskets and add embellishments because they had a terrific time and so did we. If you have a nursing home in your neighborhood I can guarantee they would enjoy doing crafts with you. You will meet some very interesting people and will leave with a warm heart.

Website Changes

Adamsacres.com will be undergoing a few changes over the next 2 – 3 days.  I am installing some new software to manage the downloads and uploads of the ever growing list of SCUT and SVG I am developing.  If the site is acting a little wonkie for the next few days please bear with it.  Thank you for your patience.
