It is no secret that I want a Cuttlebug.  It is also no big secret that I don’t like to pay full price for such things.  I was over at Joann’s website today looking for some other odds and ends and found Cuttlebug machines 40% off.  That is not bad.  I also noticed a 50% coupon as well.  They are have some great sales on lots of stock up items as well.   This is all in honor of National Craft month.  National Craft month ends March 31st.

Alien SVG for Sure Cuts A Lot

A commenter here asked for alien and planet SVG for sure cuts a lot.  Here is one version.  I will continue to do a little searching and see what else I can come up with.  This piece is in a zipped file so you will need winzip to open it.  I separated the eyes, the alien body and the planet just in case you want to expand or cut them separately.  I have also left them SVG format in case you would like to edit them.  To use these SVG files with Sure Cuts a Lot just remember to import them as SVG instead of opening them as a file.

Economy Doesn’t Get a Good Crafter Down

I believe that the economy is bad.  What I also believe is that the media helps perpetuate the negative attitude about the economy, therefore increasing the problem.  Last week on St. Patrick’s day I turned on the TV to hear one of the morning show anchors say, “Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Ireland’s economy is the worst it has been in years.”  The host who shall remain nameless basically made this statement in the same breath.  For heaven’s sake we can’t say enough about the US economy being awful, but now we have to pick a related holiday to go after the doom and gloom of another country.  Could we not wake up to Happy St. Patrick’s day, have our green beverage, celebrate a little luck o the Irish and then go into the rotten economy after we have our morning coffee.

Well yesterday was a reasonablly good day economically speaking and another morning show did give props to the good things that are happening.  Are we out of the woods economy wise, probably not.  Is a big fat smile everyone’s face going to pull us out the depths of recession no, but it certainly can’t hurt to spread a little sunshine from time to time.

As crafters I believe we are a happy lot for the most part.  I believe our creativity spreads and breeds goodwill.  When I was looking for a little scrapbooking news today I came across this article that shows that crafters are forging on and thriving in our tough economy.  It states that craft sales have proven to be very positive as more people are staying home and finding more and more ways to stretch that dollar.  Crafts sales may see a bit of a decline in future months but the creative spirit of the crafter will not be thwarted.  A crafter will find a way to make something out of nothing or anything they find laying around.

Here’s to you crafters drive our economy by buying supplies that drive your creativity.  Drive the goodwill of the economy with your spirits.  We a little luck and a lot of praying we will be talking about this economic downturn as history and not our future.

What Would You Like Turned Into A Sure Cuts a Lot File?

I enjoy making and sharing sure cuts a lot files.  What I would like to know is what sure cuts a lot files are you interested in seeing?

Is there a particular theme or item you are looking for?

Can you point me to a particular graphic or link on the web that you would like turned into an scut file?

Are you looking for a title or header?

Better yet if you see a dingbat font, meaning a specific letter from a dingbat font let me know.  I can convert lots of different items.

So instead of me dreaming up and posting my whims let me know what you want by leaving a comment here and I will see what I can do.

Urls that point me to an image or specific dingbat file are necessary to complete any of your requests.

Candle Birthday Scut File

I saw a really neat candle card on the critcut board the other day.  She used ds and it was lovely.

I decided to create something similiar.  Below you will find the .scut file to cut the candle base.  The cricut example accordian folded the candles.  I folded mine in thirds instead so that I could create a pocket for a money insert.

Below you will find the .scut file that you can fold any way you choose.  You will also see a second .scut file for the flame and accent piece for the candle.  Enjoy.

Creativity and Blackberry Thumb

This week I was spending a little time in a hotel away from the family on business for my real world job.  After a long day of meetings and trainings and working on problems that needed solutions I was glad to find myself snuggled into my bed at 9:45pm.  At 10:30 pm the blackberry beep went off.  I half thought about ignoring it but thinking that something might be up with the kids at home I grabbed it.

It wasn’t my kids but my dear friend who now lives half way across the country.  She is discovering facebook, yahoo im and I think I even have her on Twitter now.  She is a riot to be around and incredibly creative.  I know that she is always up to something. Whether is is card making or cigar purses or dance classes or networking she has creative mojo and we would all benefit from her sharing it with us online.

Last night she was telling me that she started to think about blogging.  Little does she know but I had already thought about her doing the same thing.  If she can get a quarter of the stuff that falls out of her mouth onto a blog we will all be in stitches and loyal subscribers.

Along the way we started talking about T-Shirts to market and about 1001 in one ideas.  Keep in mind that she is on her computer and I am typing on the 2 X 2 keyboard of my blackberry.  I believe I developed blackberry thumb but I didn’t want to stop regardless of the cramping in my fingers.  I love bouncing ideas off of each other. The more we talked the more creative and problem solving ideas came out.

I enjoy writing on this blog because I get to share creativity and receive it in return.  It feeds the senses and invigorates the soul to be able to share and express creativity.  If you are stumped on a craft project or a real world problem use the creativity that I see coming from the viewers here and in scrapbooking crops, and in craft blogs all over the Internet.  As a collective creative bunch of little souls we can use our creativity to achieve great things whether they are crafty or ways to attack some of the big and little problems facing our world.
