Facing a Huge Dilemma

Without going into specifics about the dilemma I will let you know that consequences on either side are huge for everyone involved.  I have to make a choice and not just your average everyday choice but one that will have pretty serious consequences down the line either way I make it. This is one of those fork in the road decisions and you can not see what is at the end of either road.

I am not alone I know that just about everybody on the planet makes decisions like this just about everyday.  I have a few weeks to think about this but I’m not sure that makes it better.  All that means is a few more nights to lay awake and think about the damage and the benefits I can create on either direction I go.

The more I ponder I realize that the decision has all ready been made up in heaven somewhere and I need to just get off my human high horse and little to the answer.  I have had great opportunity to spend a lot more time on spirituality and religion as of late and if I would practice what I preach putting an answer to my dilemma may not be as hard as my little human mind is making it.

We are in lent which is the time leading up to the cruixifiction of Jesus Christ. This is a time of sorrow and great joy.  Jesus Christ had a choice and he choose to put his life on the line so that no matter what choices we make as sinners we can be saved by his sacrifice.

When I look at my dilemma is doesn’t seem very significant in comparison to Jesus choice.  With any dilemma that haunts and puts stress on our live if we let go a little and let God we shall see that no matter what choice we make that we will all be OK.

That is what I am going to do today is sit back and take a bit of a breath and try to let go and let God handle this one.

What is the best 12X12 Paper Organizer?

I am on a quest for the best 12X12 Paper organizer.  I have looked high and low for the best 12X12 paper holder that can also be toted with me on crops.  I wish someone would create a vertical file box that just fits 12X12 paper instead of just 8 1/2 X 11.  With that said I have seen a couple but they are just too narrow an flimsy for my taste.  Currently I am using these storage cubes from Walmart that are 12 wide by 15 long.  They are about 15 inches deep.  That work pretty well be are not great for taking to crops.  They only have a handle on one side and the bottom is not very sturdy.

The smartest thing would be to pair down what I take to crops but I just can’t decide what I should take and what I should leave at home.  I am definitely not organized enough to color coordinate my pictures and pages before I go to the crops.

If you have a 12X12 paper storage and toting idea would you leave a comment.  I would love to start a collection of ideas for others in my shoes.

What Is Sure Cuts A Lot

Sure Cuts A Lot Software

Sure Cuts A Lot Software

Sure Cuts A Lot is an extremely easy program that allows you to cut your True Type fonts and various shapes on a Cricut machine. It works by scanning an image or using an image you have on your computer.  Once you have determined the image you want to use you need to use another free software program like Inkscape to convert that image to .SVG.  Inkscape is currently a free program you can download from the internet.

Sure Cuts A Lot works with Cricut Personal and Cricut Expression machine as well as with the Cricut Create machine.  You will need an usb cable to connect the Cricut to your computer.  The USB cable is probably similar to the one you have for our printer.

Sure Cuts A Lot software will weld letters together.  Welding letters or shapes together creates on continuous die cut instead of individual letters or shapes.  You can weld several shapes and letters to create any number of designs.

The software is becoming more popular therefore the availability of .SVG files is becoming more prevalent on the internet.  Some online stores are offering pre-designed groups of .SVG files for just $1 and $2 per piece.  Esty is an online collection of multiple artist’s designs and files.  It is one location to find pre made .SVG files.  If you have more time to hunt for .SVG files there are some very creative free .SVG files available for download on many scrapbooker’s blogs.

Sure cuts a lot is available for download on the internet or you can request to have it delivered to your home on CD.  We have a Sure Cuts a Lot Coupon available.

Ranger Utee Non Stick Craft Sheet a Table Saver

I hunted for these high and low.  If you google them they are not craft mats but craft sheets.  Referring to them as Ranger craft sheets even gets you closer.  In any event I saw them on one of the YouTube videos done by Tim Holtz.  I now have one and they are indispensable.  They are good for you but even better if you have little kids.  They clean up pretty well and definitely save your table.

You need one if you are going to do any of the blending techniques that Tim Holtz shows in his distress ink videos.  Here is where I ended up finding them.  Scrapbook Store has the bigger one that is 15X18.  There is also a small one as well.

Here is the link Tim Holtz video I used to learn how to get really creative with the distress inks.  The use of the craft mat comes in very handy in the technique 2 of the video.

Free Digital Scrapbooking

Jackie Eckles has created a really neat digital scrapbooking set free to download.  This is a nature related kit which includes:

 1 alpha
9 textured patterned papers
PLUS!10 whimsical embellishments, including journaling spots and word art!

They are in two separate zip files.  You will need a unzipping program like winzip to open and use these.  Who wouldn’t want a freebie like this.

I learned about this from another great blog Just Scrappin.  Linda is wonderful at sending updates from her Yahoo group.

Paper Palz for Sure Cuts A Lot

If you have Sure Cuts A Lot you may want to take a look at Scrappy Chicks they have some really inexpensive .svg files to use with Sure Cuts A Lot.  they are range in price from $1 to $5.  They are really neat.  One thing that Scrappy Chicks does is Freebe Friday.  If you join their mailing list they will send you a zip file of cut file that you can cut using cricut wishblade or other compatible cutter one a week.  This one is a pretty fancy bow with a ribbon on top.

They have created Paper Palz which are the most adorable paper piecing patterns.  I like to use sure cuts a lot to create my own .svg but I also like the Paper Palz when I want something quick and easy.  I also like the examples they show of the cut files with shadowing, chalking and inking.  There are tons of Paper Palz to choose from.

If you have sure cuts a lot this is just another way to expand its usefulness without breaking the bank.

50% off Cuttlebug at Michaels

Bless the ladies on the Scrapbook.com site.  They answered my question about the Quickutz Revolution and passed on a big cuttlebug sale.  It seems Michael’s Craft store has 50% off the Cuttlebug and its little bug accessories.  The sale runs through February 21, 2009.  If you want to get your hands on the cuttlebug at 50% off hurry.  I’m bummed as I am not close enough to a store to take advantage but the bug is definitely in my future.

Quickutz Revoluton will Not Use Cuttlebug Emboss Folders

I have looked for days for an answer to this question.  Hobby Lobby had the Quikutz Revolution for $39.99 and with the 40% coupon I could pick it up for about $25.  I just wanted a machine to do embossing because I already have the Circut machine for die cutting.  The gracious gals from the Scrapbook.com forum provide me a quick answer today.  Cuttlebug with take quickutz embossing dies but quikutz doesn’t accept cuttlebug which is a big fat bummer.  So now I will be saving my pennies and grab the cuttlebug instead.

Obama $.62 Cigarette Tax

One of my co workers, a long time smoker came in and asked our administrator if she still had the information on smoking cessation.  I was surprised to say the least.  He said Obama is helping.  I was again surprised because I am pretty sure he didn’t vote Obama.  I asked how.  He said cigarettes were going up $.70 per pack.  He and the wife did the math.  If they quit smoking then they give themselves a $270 a month raise. That is amazing.

Then I went a little further and found that the increase in tax would go to fund (SCHIP) State Children’s Health Insurance Program.  If the money really goes to helping that program I am for it.  Another interesting point made by the staff member is that a lot of people who use the state programs for their children seem to be smokers.  So this is a two edge sword regarding welfare as well. This is not a fact just an observation.  So we are reducing the number of smokers which could improve public health and reduce costs if this forces more people to quit.  We could also improve the lives of children and in any case prevention is the best medicine.

The cons are out there like how it will effect tobacco companies and the job they provide but health may win out here.
